Part-Time Property Inspector

Position Type: Part-Time / Independent Contractor
Remuneration: Per completed inspection, paid monthly on the 25th
Opportunities are available in: Northern Suburbs, Cape Town City Bowl, Atlantic Seaboard (Sea Point, Camps Bay)

About the Role

InspectorP is a property services company specialising in non-technical rental property inspections and inventory recording. With core team members based in Cape Town and the Garden Route. 

We are seeking reliable, detail-oriented individuals to conduct thorough property condition assessment inspections and  compile accurate inventory reports. Successful candidates must be based within the region for which they are applying to ensure efficient coverage of the surrounding service areas.

This is a long-term opportunity ideally suited to self-employed professionals, contractors, semi-retired individuals, mature students or mature individuals who have flexibility during normal business hours and are looking to supplement their income.

You will be responsible for visiting properties, evaluating their condition, documenting any defects and damages using company software. 

Working Hours

Inspections are scheduled as required and are concentrated around month-end periods, particularly during:

  • The last week of each month
  • The first week of each month

Most inspections take place on weekdays between 08:00 and 18:00, with occasional weekend and public holiday work when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct move-in, move-out, and routine interim inspections of properties.
  • Methodical assessments of the state and working order of  property, fixtures, fittings, etc.
  • Complete and submit digital inspection reports accurately by taking clear, high-quality photographs documenting the exact state of the property and within deadlines.
  • Travel to properties within your designated service area.
  • Communicate professionally with tenants, landlords, agents, and other stakeholders.

Minimum Requirements

  • Reside centrally within the region being applied for, as you will travel to properties within their designated service area as required.
  • Matric / Grade 12 qualification, with minimum 3–5 years of work and/or tertiary study experience
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Calm, professional, thorough approach to work and strong time-management skills
  • Well-presented and professional appearance
  • Good computer literacy and confidence using smartphone applications
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly within the service area
  • Commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Previous experience in the property, real estate, inspection, or related industries (advantageous)

What You Need

  • Transport: Must possess a valid South African driver’s license and unrestricted access to a reliable personal vehicle (car or motorbike).
  • Technology: A modern smartphone with a high-quality camera and stable internet connectivity (essential for running our digital inspection software/apps). Power bank with adequate charging capacity
  • Availability: Flexible daytime availability during the week (and occasional weekends).
  • Traits: Exceptional attention to detail, punctuality, and strong professional communication skills when interacting with tenants and landlords.

  • Round 3: Successful candidates from the interview stage will undergo introductory training (online & onsite) and a round of test inspections
  • Round 4: Successful candidates from the training phase will proceed to live onsite training shadowing another inspector to ensure you are ready to take on your first opportunity.
  • Round 5: We will conduct relevant criminal and reference checks.
